Luke 5:19
And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.
Luke 5:19
What an awesome scene! This guy was hurting, he needed help, and he had four friends who carried him to Jesus. I love this picture of friends helping each other. We need each other. There are going to be times in my life when I am going to need the help of a friend. I am going to need your prayers and I am going to need you to lift me up to Jesus. I’m sure it’s the same for you.
And see what these guys did? They didn’t just bring their friend who needed help to Jesus, they did it when it wasn’t easy! The crowds were so thick they couldn’t get through. So they carried him up to the roof, removed the tiling from the roof, and lowered him down. It wasn’t easy or convenient, but they were committed on getting their friend before the Lord.
As friends, as brothers and sisters in Christ, that ought to be the kind of commitment we have to one another. Even when it isn’t easy, even when it isn’t convenient. We should be lifting each other up and helping each other.
