Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
Luke 6:38
It’s hard to go through life and imagine that all of our wrongdoings can be completely forgiven. But that is exactly what Jesus did when He gave His life for our sins. We are not deserving of mercy, but mercy was given to us. It’s the kind of mercy that no longer brings up the past or only “half forgives.” We were truly given a gift that defies comprehension. What the Bible teaches and what God commands is that we give forgiveness with the amount given to us.
We may not be called upon to give our lives for another, but in the same measure that we are forgiven, God expects us to forgive others. This is a lot to ask of mere mortals who cannot see the world with Jesus’ eyes. But the solution to that is to draw closer to Him and let Him show you the world through His eyes. We cannot become Jesus, but we can become like Him in our thinking, our words, and in our measure of forgiveness. The impossibility of total forgiveness to others is only impossible if we refuse to let God be a part of the equation.
