Mark 12:17

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.

The Pharisees were trying to catch Jesus in His words here with a question as to whether it was lawful to pay taxes to Rome since they were God’s people and submit to God alone. Jesus’ answer here blew them away. He says give to Caesar that which is his, and give to God that which is God’s.

The coins in that day had Caesar’s name and image on them. As God’s people, we bear His name and His image. We belong to Him. We owe Him everything. We are God’s people, and we should render or give to God our lives. We give Him our all.
