Mark 1:30-32

Mark 1:30-32

But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them. At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed.

 Mark 1:30-32

Jesus’ compassion for individuals and outcasts shines through in these verses. He met every need out of obedience to the Father and a willingness to set straight the crippling effect of sin on our human bodies. Compassion simply means, “to suffer with.” Jesus in His humanity walked in our shoes.

So, in what ways has Christ’s compassion reached out to you personally? Have there been times when His mercy overwhelmed you? Are there places today where you need His healing touch? And of course, in receiving that compassion from Him, how can we extend His compassion to others, especially those that society often overlooks? Ask God to fill you with His compassion and to open your eyes to the needs around you.
