Mark 1:40

Mark 1:40

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Mark 1:40

The most outcast of all people in Jesus’ day were the incurable lepers. It was a slow and painful death sentence. Sin does the same thing to the heart of man that leprosy does to the flesh of man. And sin is not appeased until it completely consumes. The leper’s desperate approach to Jesus teaches us about the power of faith in the face of this seemingly hopeless situation. Despite his condition, the leper believed Jesus could heal him if He was willing. His simple faith is a beacon that we can follow.

Are there areas in your life where you’ve come to the end and need to exercise this same kind of desperate faith? Have you lost hope? Are there situations you’ve given up on that you need to bring before Jesus? Take heart and know that His compassion is limitless, and He is always willing to meet us in our desperation. Pray for the courage to approach Jesus with both humility and confidence, believing He can make a difference in your life.
