And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

The disciples’ awe at Jesus’ authority over the wind and waves reflects a crucial realization about His divine nature. Like them, we often underestimate God’s power in our lives. The psalmist’s declaration of God’s rule over the raging sea encourages us to trust in His supreme authority over all creation—including the chaotic elements of our lives. Where do you need to see God’s power manifested? Ask the Lord to give you the awareness to recognize His work in the dramatic, overwhelming, and subtle unnoticed aspects of your life.
