Mark 6:30-31
Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.
Mark 6:30-31
At this time, Jesus was at the height of his popularity among the people. He had done some amazing miracles and taught some heavy-duty messages. And we know that as the crowds began to gather around Him, Jesus and His guys didn’t have time to do much of anything. They barely had enough time to eat and drink!
I don’t know about you, but I am pretty sure you are like me, that there are days when I barely have time to eat and to drink! There are so many people and things commanding my time and my energy. I am sure that is the way Jesus’ disciples felt. And in the middle of all that, Jesus says to His guys, ”Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile.”
We need that quiet time with the Lord! You do and I know I do! And that deserted place doesn’t have to be on a mountain, it may be the living room couch early in the morning or the dining room table late at night. Jesus calls all of us to have that quiet time with Him. To hear that still small voice and to receive a refreshing from the Lord in that deserted place with Him. Have you been feeling out of gas lately? Let’s go to that deserted place. Have you been feeling a little frazzled lately? Let’s go to that deserted place.
Resting with my Lord,
