Matthew 20:15

Matthew 20:15

Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good.

Matthew 20:15

In Matthew 20:1-16, we read about the parable of the workers in the vineyard. We see a landowner who hires several men to do the same job throughout the day. Some work more hours than others and some work less. When it came time to pay the men, they all received equal amounts. This angered those who had worked longer through the day, and they questioned the landowner. His reply was simple, “Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things?”

The gift of salvation that you and I received came at different times to all of us, but God blesses equally. If we look to the example of the thief on the cross, we see that he too will share in the same blessings as those who have walked with God most of their lives.

It is not for us to tell the giver how to give, when to give, or how much to give. It is only our job to submit to His authority, keep our eyes on our own lives and pray that others might receive this free gift as well.

God Bless,

Pastor Paul Provencio
