Matthew 4:18-20
And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Matthew 4:18-20
When Jesus called His disciples, they left everything to follow Him. It was one thing for fishermen, who worked their fingers to the bone for little return, to leave it all behind but for Matthew, this meant leaving a lucrative career. And yet he did so without hesitation. When we hear the call of Christ, we’re always called to leave something.
What might Jesus be calling you to leave behind in order to follow Him more closely? It could be a harmful habit, a misplaced priority, or even a good thing that’s become an idol. Pray for the courage to respond to Jesus’ call with the same immediacy and wholehearted commitment as the disciples did.
