Matthew 5:21-22

Matthew 5:21-22

You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.”

Matthew 5:21-22

If it wasn’t for Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-through-7, we’d all think we’re better than we really are. For instance, none of us has murdered anyone, but have we been angry at someone else? All of us have.

The Sermon on the Mount gives us God’s interpretation of the Scriptures and reminds us that without Jesus, none of us is righteous. We might not commit actual sins like adultery or murder, but our hearts commit them frequently.

Praise the Lord He sent His Son to die for our sins and offer us forgiveness! We are far from perfect, but we’re saved by the One who is.

Relying on Christ’s mercy,
