Matthew 5:44
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44
There are certain Scriptures I believe are highly disregarded in the Bible. How about Matthew 18, which tells us to talk to people face-to-face when we have issues with them and not spread it around. How many people actually follow that? Or the verse above about loving our enemies. That’s also a difficult one to do.
Through the power of Jesus, we are able to do the difficult things. Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And because Jesus gives us that strength, we can love our enemies.
When we show love to those who curse us or hate us, it is a great witness to those around us who don’t understand why we would even bother. It is one of those great opportunities to shine like a light in a dark world. Are you loving your enemies? Pray to God for help if you’re not.
Help me follow you in all things, Jesus!
