Matthew 5:6

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed is the one who’s heart’s desire is to be righteous, who long to be right with God, forgiven and called a child of God, so much so that they hunger and thirst after it. But Jesus goes far beyond just our relationship with God and having our sins forgiven in this statement, the word “righteousness” here speaks also of the way that we live our lives. That our lives would be filled with, “Integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting.” Not just hungering and thirsting to be saved, but wanting every part of our lives to be honoring to God.

Jesus says that if we “hunger and thirst” after that we will be “filled”, that God won’t leave us unsatisfied, but rather fill us to overflowing! So how hungry are you for the things of God? Can you take them or leave them or are they something that you can’t live without?
