“And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
As part of the prayer model that Jesus gave to His disciples, He made sure to include our need to resist the devil and his temptation. We can ask that God will provide us with the ability to escape the temptations we face. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 “God… will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” We know that apart from God’s grace and mercy, we will always be victim to the wiles of the evil one so we ask for His deliverance.
The prayer ends with a confirmation and reminder to us that God is indeed the ALL IN ALL. This statement is not a petition but a proclamation, a great way for all of us to end our prayers.
Amen and Amen,
