Matthew 6:14-15

Matthew 6:14-15

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:14-15

It has been said, “We are never more like God than when we forgive.” There’s so much truth in that. So why is so hard to forgive? Why will we hold grudges instead of forgiving?

The above verses follow what is commonly known as “The Lord’s Prayer.” In that prayer, Jesus said in Matthew 6:12, “And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.” He then spent two more verses after the prayer to emphasize forgiveness. That’s how important it is to God.

Verses that say the Father won’t forgive our trespasses if we don’t forgive others their trespasses should be taken seriously. When Jesus saves us, He gives us a forgiving heart. But it’s still up to us to apply that in our lives. Is there anyone you haven’t forgiven? Today’s the day to do so!

Thanks for your forgiveness, Lord!
