Matthew 6:28-30

Matthew 6:28-30

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;  and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”

Matthew 6:28-30

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “You are what you wear.”  That may be a standard the world uses but God looks at things very differently.  And here Jesus even addresses our anxieties that can develop over the things we wear. God adorns wildflowers with a beauty that would rival royalty even though they do nothing but fall under His loving providential care.

Until man interferes, everything in nature works together, because all of nature trusts God. Man, however, is pulled apart because he tries to live his own life by depending on material things.  Worry is not only a waste of energy, a drain on our contentment, and a damper on our gratitude, but it also signifies a lack of faith in God’s character as our Provider.  We need to say as Abraham said with Isaac’s sacrifice, “Jehovah Jirah” – God Provides. (Genesis 22:14).
