Matthew 7:9-11

What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:9-11

Even as sinners, we know how to give good things to our children. We want to care for them and bless them, and if they ask us for something to eat, we’re going to provide what they need. If your son came and asked you for a PB and J sandwich for lunch, you’re not going to give them a rock and say “Here you go, chew on that for a while,” or if your daughter wanted some fish sticks for dinner, you wouldn’t go out looking for a snake for her to dine on.

James 1:17 tells us that, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” He doesn’t change, He is a good Father and knows how to give good gifts to His children. And not just temporal things like food and clothing, but Spiritual gifts like grace, mercy, wisdom, and faith.

Ask your heavenly Father, seek the Lord, knock on His door, and you will find that it is always open to His kids.
