Amos, one of two prophets sent by God to the Northern Kingdom of Israel (the other was Hosea), was God’s call to this wayward kingdom to return to Him. Through Amos He pleads for their return warning them of the coming destruction if they don’t repent. Because they did not repent, God had no choice but to foretell of the coming destruction and dispersion. Yet in spite of their rejection of Him, God through Amos ends this prophetic book by describing the ultimate restoration of the Kingdom when Jesus, the Messiah, will come.
