Nahum 1:7

Nahum 1:7

The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
Nahum 1:7

The Bible teaches that the Christian life is a battle. It doesn’t take long until this basic Biblical truth becomes our reality. Sometimes, the battle is very real. In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he exhorts us to not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). Though the devil’s schemes are various, his chief goal remains the same. He is seeking to assault the character of God in our hearts and minds. He is the deceiver. If he can get you to question the commandments and character of God, he has won.

As children of God, all of our hope rests upon the proven character of God. Satan attacks the source. He deceives the minds of men and women. Once the mind is confused, the heart can then be corrupted. He has done it from the beginning, and his tricks remain the same today. Paul warned us against this craftiness when he said, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Our greatest victories will come through simplicity.

When life is overwhelming, we can still approach God as a simple child, expecting Him to swoop us up in His arms and assure us of His Goodness. Nahum tells us that God is good. Though life can get tough, God is still good and can be trusted. He is a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who trust in him. He knows you. But do you know him? Do you trust Him? Do you trust his goodness?
