Numbers 9:22

Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey.

Numbers 9:22

This was how God led Israel at this time. By day a pillar of smoke, and a pillar of fire by night. Wherever the pillar moved they followed, and wherever it stopped they stopped. For however long it was, they stayed. And when it moved they would pack up the tabernacle and move all two-and-half million people to where they were to go. 

This is an awesome picture of how God’s people are to be. We are to follow God wherever He goes. We are not led by tradition, or routine, by the stars, or the world around us. We are led by God. 

And we cannot be so busy with our thoughts that we think we can go off on our own. Or get so caught up with our lives that we get left behind. We need to stay focused on God and He will lead us.
