Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:30
In Psalm 1, the psalmist so accurately depicts the way of the righteous. He closes his meditation with this statement, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season” (Psalm 1:3). Jesus said, “He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit” (John 15:5).
The life of the righteous is a fruitful life, the fruit that we bear produces life in those who partake of it. As believers, we have been given the great and precious promise that Jesus came to give us an abundant life. We possess a life full of the hope that many have lost. We possess a life full of joy that cannot be taken away. We possess the peace of God in our lives that the world is so desperately searching for.
But we also possess access to the wisdom of God. All of the Christian’s life, hope, joy, peace, and wisdom, is rooted in their knowledge of God. We serve a God who desires to be known. In our text of consideration, Solomon says, “He who wins souls is wise.” Put simply, wisdom is knowledge applied. Deeply rooted in the heart of God is His love for the world. A love that, as Christians, we know through experience. A love that has given us hope, a love that has given us joy, a love that has given us peace, a love that has given us life. Wisdom says, “Share this love with those who don’t know it.”
