Proverbs 12:1

Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.

Proverbs 12:1

I’ve been teaching in Children’s Ministry for 22 years and one area of my life in which that has helped has been the way I talk. Even if I wanted to use salty language nowadays, knowing the kids would jump on my case keeps my tongue guarded. In the verse above, the Holy Spirit uses the word stupid to describe those who hate being corrected. My class would certainly say something about that word!

Just as the kids in my class correct me, so does the Lord through His word. I need to read it daily for instruction and guidance, but not only read it but follow it. As Christians, we need to have the realization we’re far from perfect and need God’s correction in our lives. We don’t want to be people who think correction is, um, dumb.
