Proverbs 5:18
Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
Proverbs 5:18
There is a lot in Proverbs about marriage and sexual sin, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise since the writer, Solomon, had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He knew of what he spoke. The verse above comes in the middle of a chapter focusing on sexual sin and the reminder to us if we rejoice with our wives or our spouses, it will keep us from those sins.
This means we actually enjoy spending time with our spouse; we’re not just roommates who feel like we’re stuck with each other. We enjoy life together, whether we’re watching TV, on vacation, or serving the Lord. We realize Jesus comes first in our life and we receive our joy through Him.
If your marriage is having problems, it might be time to open Proverbs and let this man, who made his share of mistakes in relationships, show us what works and what doesn’t in our marriage.
Rejoicing with my wife,
