Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law he does meditate day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in due season, Whose leaf shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:1-3
Here in Psalm 1, King David emphasizes the importance of reading and meditating on God’s Word day and night. And that when we do, our lives will be fruitful. We won’t wither from the difficulties in this world and we will prosper in whatever we do. Sounds good to me! And it all starts with God’s word. When we delight and meditate on His word, it becomes a compass that helps guide us and keep us going in the right direction as we live for the Lord.
Are you delighting in His word lately? Do you find yourself daily meditating on the wonderful promises found in God’s word? It is easy to get distracted from doing the most important thing, reading and meditating on God’s word. I encourage you to open the bible each day and choose a passage and spend time meditating on it. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to what God is saying to you and how the passage applies to your life. Remember, as you delight in God’s Word, you become like a tree planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season!
