Psalm 115:13

Psalm 115:13

He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great.

Psalm 115:13

In Mark 10:23, Jesus tells His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” The next verse tells us how astonished the disciples were at this saying, so Jesus repeats what He just told them.

Like our society, those living in Jesus’ day glorified the rich. There’s this mentality that those with tons of money are being especially blessed by God. However, if you dig into the lives of the rich and famous, you will find some sad people indeed. They worry about keeping those riches and staying famous. They worry about those who might rip off their money. If they don’t know the Lord, they’re living a life full of pleasures and bereft of joy.

In the verse above, the Psalmist says God doesn’t bless only the great, He blesses any who fear Him, who rely on Him for whatever they have, whether it’s a little or plenty.

Many poor turn to the Lord because they realize He’s all they have and they end up finding out He’s more than enough.

He’s more than enough for us also, no matter what’s in our checking accounts.
