Psalm 119:11

Psalm 119:11

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

I am a big believer in not waiting until danger is upon me to decide what I should do. Most people will agree having a good exit strategy or at least a good “plan B” is prudent. Even in non-life or death situations, it is always wise to have a backup plan so that the odds are in our favor. If the gas gauge were broken on your car, you would be wise to fill up the tank completely and not chance running out of gas. Or perhaps you might be going camping, and even though the weather predicted no rain, it would be smart to take a light rain jacket just in case. The point is that we should always try to be prepared if possible.

The same goes for writing God’s words on our hearts and committing Scripture to memory. If I think back on my life and the bad situations I ended up in, they would be too numerous to count. But what I can say for sure is that when I feel the enemy begin to attack me now, it is easier to recite memorized scripture in defense than try and negotiate my way out. Our flesh will always lose in spiritual battles, but if we can draw upon God’s word in those tough times, we can remember His truths and what His word says about the situation.

Making an educated guess is fine for science experiments. But when it comes to our souls and eternity, we need to possess an arsenal of biblical truth that can be called upon in a moment. Often, that moment defines us as children of God or victims of this world. Don’t be a victim!

God Bless,
