Psalm 119:36-37

Psalm 119:36-37

Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.

Psalm 119:36-37

According to Matthew 6:22-23 the eye is the lamp of the body, and what captivates our eyes eventually consumes our minds and hearts. In our digital age, with screens demanding over six hours daily, the enemy dangles endless temptations before us, knowing unsatisfied eyes lead to enslaved minds. From Eve’s gaze at the forbidden fruit to David’s rooftop glance to Samson’s wandering eyes, Scripture warns that visual temptation has destroyed even the mightiest saints. The solution isn’t merely avoiding bad things but filling our vision with good things—fixing our eyes on Jesus.

What are you feeding your eyes? Consider implementing a “screen fast” today or limiting your consumption. Instead, meditate on Scripture, observe God’s creation, or focus on serving others. Guard the eye gate carefully, for it’s the pathway to your heart.
