Have you ever made a bet only to call it a joke after you lost or made plans and cancel them the moment something better presented itself? Here the Psalmist tells us that a child of God, a person of integrity, will keep their word even to their hurt. We need to be careful with the words we use and the promises we make. Jesus said let your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no” in Matthew 5:37. He did not say unless or rather. He stated that anything short of that is from the evil one.

When you tell someone that you are going to do something, do it; even if it comes at a cost to you. I encourage you to read Psalm 15 today and see how you fall in on that list.
