Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Life isn’t always green pastures and still waters. Sometimes, we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Yet, as David affirms, we need not fear evil because God is with us. Paul’s words to the Corinthians remind us that though we may be hard-pressed on every side, we are not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. 

As you’re thinking of a difficult situation you may be facing, how might God be using this to lead you in “paths of righteousness for His name’s sake”(23:3)? Remember, our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Ask God for the strength to persevere, knowing that He is with you in every valley with His rod and staff ready to defend and comfort.
