Psalm 25:16-18, 20
Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins… Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
Psalm 25:16-18, 20
David’s honesty about his feelings of loneliness and affliction resonates with our own experiences of pain and isolation. In these verses, we see that it’s okay to bring our raw emotions to God. He doesn’t expect us to hide our struggles or put on a brave face. Instead, He invites us to turn to Him in our distress.
Do you have any experiences of loneliness or pain in your life right now? Invite God into those spaces. Remember that Jesus himself experienced deep anguish and can sympathize with our weaknesses. Take comfort in knowing that God sees your pain and is near to the brokenhearted. Simply pray for His presence to be tangible in your difficulties. He’ll meet you there.
