Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

I was an atheist for many years before getting saved at the age of 29. I met a lot of Christians, and it had no appeal to me. They would constantly tell me about Jesus and the punishment I would face for not believing in Him. They would quote Psalm 14:1, The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” Or I watch the pastors on TV begging for money. There was no appeal to me to want to accept the Lord.

As an atheist, I read the whole Bible from Genesis through Revelation and it took about a year-and-a-half. Doing that started showing me some of the goodness of God. Once I accepted Jesus, however, that’s when it all finally made sense. Like today’s verse says, we have taste and see the Lord is good. 

When sharing your faith with others, remember what it says in Ephesians 4:15, to speak the truth in love. Yes, we need to be honest with people, but they have to realize how good Jesus is! He doesn’t only bring us salvation and forgiveness; He brings us that peace that surpasses all understand and answers for those difficult parts of our lives. Yes, God will judge, but He’s also the God of mercy and grace.

Oh, God, you’re so good to Me!
