Psalm 89:1

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

We often use our words for things of little or no value – cheering on our favorite teams, yelling at someone who cut us off in traffic, or putting someone down, as some examples. Yet Ethan the Ezrahite, who wrote this Psalm, wants to use his voice for great reasons, to sing of the mercies of the Lord and make known God’s faithfulness to everyone he knows.

How are you using your voice? Are you singing the latest secular hits? Are you chatty until it comes to talking about the Lord and then go silent when that happens? It’s easy to do, but we should remember the value our words can bring when used for the Lord’s glory. So learn some Christian songs and some Bible verses to tell others, and let your voice shine for Jesus!
