Psalm 94:12-13

Psalm 94:12-13

Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O LORD, And teach out of Your law, That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, Until the pit is dug for the wicked.
Psalm 94:12-13
The psalmist asked God earlier, “How long will the wicked triumph?” (v.3), and proceeded to lay out the deeds of the wicked before God. Then, in the verses following today’s passage, the psalmist proclaims that God will not cast off or forsake His people, that God is the rock of refuge, and that the wicked will ultimately face judgment.

What are we to do when the times in which we live are full of adversity? We are to let God instruct and teach us through His word, thereby finding rest. By immersing ourselves in God’s word, we discover the promises of God, and we learn of the immense demonstrations of His love towards His people. It culminates in Jesus dying for us on the cross for our sin, guaranteeing that believers will spend eternity with Him.

When we grab ahold of the eternal perspective presented in the Bible, then our hope settles on the Lord and not the world. And when our hope rests on the Lord, then we find peace and rest in our lives. So, saints, let God instruct and teach you through the reading of His word, and may you experience rest in your life.
