He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Jesus is the He in the above verse and says He’s coming quickly. It’s been 2,000 years and we’re still waiting for Him. Yet the Bible is clear we always need to be ready for His return, but until that time, we need to stay busy in the things of the Lord (Luke 19:13).
There are good days where I don’t mind being here and then there are bad days when I don’t think Jesus is coming quickly enough. However, whether we’re having good or bad days, we need to remember Jesus is coming and keep living our lives for Him.
When John wrote this verse around 90 AD, he was already desperate for Jesus to come. As we get closer to His return, the world gets worse, and the cry becomes more desperate.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
