God has given unto us a definite pattern for the Church as detailed in the below Scripture. He starts with sending individuals to pastor and give oversight for the Body of Christ. Moreover, we are told that the pastor’s responsibility is to equip the saints for doing the work of the ministry. Here at Morningstar, we place a great emphasis on teaching the entire Bible and it is through this teaching that God equips His people for ministry.
Ephesians 4:11-12
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Believers who made Jesus Lord
Believers who have made Jesus Christ their Lord and continue to grow in their relationship with Him will ultimately become fruitful Christians. Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). With this ongoing work in our lives, it eventually becomes incumbent upon us to seek ways to serve Him by serving others. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, taught that God has given to each member of the Body of Christ, gifts or abilities to be used to minister to the needs of individuals within the Church (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
Opportunities to Serve
Here at Morningstar, God has provided many opportunities where believers can exercise their God-given spiritual gifts to minister to one another. These opportunities are varied and diverse such as ushering, teaching a Sunday school class, using the gift of music in the worship ministry, ministering in convalescent homes and prisons, serving the needs of the body through the helps ministry, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through the many outreach ministries. See below for more details on many of the ministry opportunities available at Morningstar Christian Chapel.
