1 Peter 4:3-4
For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles — when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same food of dissipation, speaking evil of you.
1 Peter 4:3-4
As believers, we’re called to be “salt and light” in the world, even when it makes us stand out or face opposition. Peter reminds us that our changed lives may seem strange to others, but this difference is precisely what makes our witness powerful. If you’re a Christian, people are going to think you’re strange. In regard to these things, notice they think it’s strange that your life is different. And that’s exactly the point.
Have you had experiences lately when your faith has set you apart from others. We can blessedly view these moments not as awkward or isolating, but as opportunities to shine Christ’s light? Pray for courage to live distinctly for Christ, and for compassion towards those who don’t yet know Him. Are you willing to be the one who stands apart from the mob and, if need be, alone with Christ?
