1 Samuel 17:45

1 Samuel 17:45

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled.”

1 Samuel 17:45

Powerful words like these are becoming more and more scarce in today’s world. As a result, we sometimes we find ourselves feeling small and helpless due to the size of the giant before us. Having to face giants that appear menacing and unstoppable is all a part of living in a world that desperately needs to hear just those words. Yet when faced with a wall of fury, we often succumb to our knee-jerk reaction of retreat. It is in those times we should remember how small David was when compared to Goliath.

In physical form, there would have been no equal battle between David and the Philistine giant. But in spiritual dimensions, David was towering over all who witnessed him. In life, people will either see us as the physical form before them or we can choose to have them see us for what we stand for. Our God is a force to be reckoned with and One that can accomplish what the world sees as impossible. When faced with giants, we need to remember that the power of God and His Word will topple any kingdom that dares oppose Him. There is strength given to those who rest in Him.
