1 Timothy 2:1-2
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
1 Timothy 2:1-2
If we are honest with ourselves, it is easy for us to pray for those who agree with us and for those who we love. We tend to lift them up consistently, praying that the Lord bless them, protect them, and have His hand upon them. But how hard is it to pray for those who oppose us, those who have completely different values, for those who we disagree with but are in authority over us? And yet we see here Paul proclaiming to Timothy that as believers we are to pray for all men, through supplications, prayers, and thanksgiving.
We have to remember that our lives should be guided by biblical principles first and what we know in this world second. We are to pray for these individuals according to Scripture and not our own desires or what we think is right because in that we will live a life that is peaceable in all godliness and reverence.
For His Kingdom,
