Hebrews 13:5

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5

As  I read the Bible each day seeking to know the Lord better and asking Him to conform my life to be more pleasing to Him, it is verses like the one above that always present a challenge. Paul, in writing to the Hebrew saints, challenges them to live a life free from the want for things of this life, to find a contentment with what we have been given by the Lord and rejoice in the truth that we have the Lord with us to the end. He will never leave us or forsake us. This is a powerful verse that has much to say to our valuing of possessions. The stuff we buy, gather, and have to replace gives us a limited amount of satisfaction for a limited time. Contrast that to a truth that should satisfy us each day of our lives. May the Lord speak to your heart today as you ponder the Word from Him.

Learning contentment in Him,
