Exodus 4:11-12

Exodus 4:11-12

So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

Exodus 4:11-12

Public speaking has always come easy for me. As a matter of fact, the two most feared things by most people are going to the dentist and public speaking. But I actually love them both! People think I’m crazy for admitting that, but it is true. It is also true that as much as I am comfortable standing in front of a group and talking, I am also a consistent self-doubter. I second guess every speech I write down and I rewrite papers several times over because I feel it is not good enough. Some of you can probably relate to that fear of not being good enough or worthy to proclaim God’s truths. But be of good cheer, you are in good company.

The words of Exodus 4:11-12 are the responses God gave to Moses when he felt he was not worthy of speaking for God and being an eloquent representative of the Kingdom. One of God’s greatest servants in all the Bible was actually afraid and full of self-doubt when it came to his abilities. But God, in His perfect way, reminded Moses that it was Him who makes man to speak or be silent, to hear or not hear, and to see or be blind. It is by His power that words are made eloquent, and lives are changed. We too can be reminded that we have nothing to fear when it comes to speaking for God. We are only called to be faithful and obedient. God is the one who will go before us and speak for us. Don’t let a spirit of fear take over what God is calling you to do.

God Bless,
