Numbers 20:12
Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
Numbers 20:12
What a life Moses lived! He was born at a time all the Hebrew babies were being killed, but he was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter. He lived a life in the riches of Egypt, before being called by the Lord to rescue the Hebrew people and take them to the Promised Land. Over 80 years old at this point, Moses must have looked forward to settling down in the land of milk and honey.
However, he wouldn’t go there because when the Lord told him to speak to the rock to get water, he struck it instead. He misrepresented God by making the people think God was angry at them and He wasn’t.
It’s an interesting picture. Moses, representing the law, couldn’t get the people into the promised land. Just like us doing the right thing cannot get us into Heaven. Who did take the people into the land – Joshua, or in the Greek, Jesus.
We can’t get to Heaven by being good, we only get there through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Have you accepted Jesus? You can do so today and have eternal life!
