Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:6-7
In these verses, we see what Biblical salvation looks like. It starts with the work of Jesus on the cross, being the perfect sacrifice to redeem us of our sins. The Holy Spirit then stirs inside of us to respond to the Lord’s work, drawing us to Him. As a result, it leads us to seek the Lord and turn away from the ways of the flesh. This is the Gospel that is available to the entire world. Verse 6 reminds us that we should have a sense of urgency; it isn’t saying to seek the Lord because He might disappear or be far away but rather it is a call to respond to the work that God is doing in our lives.
We don’t know what the future holds for each and every one of us which is why we should respond to His calling to go to Him in the moment. Verse 7 shows us how great God’s mercy is towards the lost, He calls us all to repentance and as a result, we get to experience God’s grace and mercy. There is no sin too big or anyone who is too far gone, for God will abundantly pardon all who turn to Him. May this encourage us to share His good news with those around us.
For His Kingdom,
