Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31
Psalm 107 reminds me of the book of Judges. In the book of Judges, the Israelites are caught in a sin-drome. They are blessed by God, then they forget about God, judgment comes upon them for their disobedience, they cry to the Lord for help, He helps them, they praise Him, He blesses them, and the whole thing starts again.
Here in this Psalm, the Israelites go through difficulties and call out to the Lord in verses 6, 13, 19, and 28. God answers their prayers and they then thank the Lord in the verses listed above.
It would be so easy to condemn these Israelites if I didn’t see the same pattern in my life. I mess up, pray to the Lord, He forgives me and blesses me, I praise Him, and then mess up again. How much better would it be to abide in Jesus, keeping Him close at all times, and being able to break this sin-drome!
Help me stay close to you, Lord!
