1 Samuel 14:6

1 Samuel 14:6

Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the LORD will work for us. For nothing restrains the LORD from saving by many or by few.

1 Samuel 14:6

Just think about how God would use us today if we were the kind of Christians who saw things the way Jonathan did and believed enough in God’s abilities to step out onto the battle in faith.

We should know that we are no longer separated from the Lord by our sin, as these “uncircumcised” Philistines were. We should stand in the knowledge that we have a covenant and relationship with God through the blood of Christ. We should believe as Jonathan did, that God was seeking out those with faith in Him to show His power (2 Chronicles 16:9). If we really believed that, numbers would not be an issue and nothing would restrain the Lord from using us to save people, even if no one else was with us.

If we believed these things enough to step out and seek out opportunities for God to work through us, what awesome things we might see God do! That’s how Jonathan lived, may we live believing as well.
