Luke 10:39-40
And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
Luke 10:39-40
In these verses, Jesus is at Mary and Martha’s house. Martha was preparing a meal for Jesus but Mary is sitting at Jesus’ feet listening and learning from Him. Martha thought what she was doing was more important but she was wrong. Jesus would answer her in verse 42 and say “Mary has chosen the good part.”
Far too often, Christians are Martha when they should be Mary. They are too busy with other things to sit at Jesus’ feet. I’m sure Martha, like many of us, thinks we will have time for Jesus when we are done making dinner, or when we are older, or when the kids are older, or when money isn’t so tight. But the reality is we need to be sitting at Jesus’ feet always. We have to make time for our Lord. We can’t let anything, even good things, stop us from sitting at His feet.
Sitting at His feet,
