1 Thessalonians 1:8

For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

1 Thessalonians 1:8

For a very young church, the Thessalonians were having quite an influence all over the region. “Not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place.”  They had the great opportunity to share with many people because Thessalonica was a large port city, so many people would come through the city. As they come in contact with someone from the church, they would hear the Gospel, and many would leave being saved.

So much so that Paul says, “You’re putting us out of business!” “Your faith toward God has gone out so that we do not need to say anything.” Over and over again, they would hear from people, “Oh yeah, I heard about Jesus when I was in Thessalonica, and I saw how they have turned from idols to serving the true and living God.”

Wouldn’t that be great if that were the case in your city? That people would go there, meet someone from your church, and leave saved! How we could change the world one life at a time. It happened in Thessalonica, so why not here?
