Ephesians 4:32

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32

Too often, even as believers, we tend to bring up the past and use it as a weapon against others, even those who are closest to us. Even though we know that forgiveness is the foundation of the Gospel that saved us, we sometimes feel we have the right to withhold our forgiveness to others if we feel that they have hurt us deeply.
Imagine for a moment if God dealt out His forgiveness by those standards; how would you fare, considering it was your sin that sent God’s only begotten Son to the cross? We need to forgive others as God has forgiven our sins, completely and permanently, choosing never to bring them up again. If we choose not to do so, I think that we’ll have a hard time believing and relying on the fact that God has forgiven us.
