Proverbs 14:14

Proverbs 14:14

The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.
Proverbs 14:14

Elimelech, in the book of Ruth, lived in Bethlehem (meaning house of bread) in the days the judges ruled. When a famine came upon the land of Promise, he took his wife Naomi and two sons to Moab, which God had placed under a curse in Deuteronomy 23:3. He was hoping to escape the suffering of the famine.

Meanwhile, his relative Boaz rode out the storm in the land God had given them. Elimelech means God is King, but for him, He was not. He would die in Moab; his two sons would be lost to the world. Boaz would continue to find God’s best, even in the midst of severe trials, and Boaz would end up in the lineage of Jesus Christ. Backsliding and faithfulness were clearly illustrated in their lives. God help us to be good and faithful servants!

Not my ways, but yours be done!
