Ezekiel 33:19-20

Ezekiel 33:19-20

But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it. Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge every one of you according to his own ways.
Ezekiel 33:19-20

The fairness of the Lord is often called into question. In John 14:6, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me. That’s not fair! Are you saying you can only get to the Lord through Jesus? It’s just one of many “unfair” things the Lord does. If a family member or close friend dies, it’s “unfair.”

These verses above show it’s not a new thing. Even in the days of Ezekiel, people were complaining about the Lord not being fair. Yet look at it from God’s point of view. When the wicked turns from His ways and starts following the Lord, he will live eternally. That’s more than fair. That’s amazing!

Before you come down on the Lord for being unfair, understand that none of us should go to heaven, because we are all sinners. What would be fair for the Lord to do is to send us all to eternal judgment, but instead He gives us all a chance to repent and be saved.

God is more than fair!
