Haggai 1:6
You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.
Haggai 1:6
Haggai wrote to a group of people who put themselves first and God somewhere behind that. While the temple lay in ruins, the people’s houses were elaborate. They thought they were living the good life.
Yet look at today’s verse. They worked hard for very little results, that’s what happens when you live for yourself. There’s got to be a bigger purpose in our lives than just pleasing ourselves. It’s not God’s job to make us comfortable and that’s why when things don’t go right, we complain.
Do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels and you can’t seem to go forward? Maybe you haven’t put God first. Matthew 6:33 says, Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be given unto you.
Putting God first,
