Hebrews 6:13-15
For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:13-15
How do you feel about God’s promises? Will He keep them? Will they come in a time and place we expect? Abraham is a classic example of a man of God who waited…and waited… and waited. The promise: a son to be born to Sarah when she was 65 and he was 75, that he would become a great nation, and his descendants would be as numerous as the sand and stars. By the time the promise was fulfilled, Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90. Now 25 years of waiting is a long time, but Abraham did wait. (And after waiting with patience the promise came.)
God had sworn by His own name (because there was no one higher around). To renege on His promise would have meant ruining His reputation as the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-benevolent God. So we too have been given magnificent promises that God will be faithful to fulfill. We may just have to wait.
Patience…Patience,
